Each Wolf-kin may have up to three forms total, including a human form. The base (human) form is constant and counts as the first form. You may select two additional forms for your character. Each have their own strengths, weaknesses and appearance.  Choose wisely!

This does not account for characters "stuck" in a non-human form or anything that may verge into furry RP (always in a non-human form, talking and wearing clothes in a non-human form, etc.). In concert with our appearance and avatar standards listed in the main rules page, we will not approve any Wolf-kin that use a furry style, cartoonish, macro-sized, neko-like, or otherwise inappropriate avatar, including unnatural fur colors.  We have pre-approved several avatars available on the market.

Your character must adhere to these weakness and strength sets in addition to your character class (e.g., mage, berzerker, ranger, baker, etc.). Your character class MAY NOT enhance or otherwise adjust these abilities and strengths nor can they negate their weaknesses in any way. By example, a mage may not "magically add" extra bite muscles to her form for greater jaw power. Only selected Unique Gifts may adjust this ability and strength/weakness set.

Human Form

The base form for all wolf-kin. Physical bestial features aren’t present while in Human form. Wolf-kin exist primarily in their natural human form, with their other forms being secondary.

Human Form Specific Strengths

Senses: Sight, hearing and smell are twice as acute as that of a normal human. Minimal Night Vision.

Speed & Agility: Reflexes, running speed, stamina, and flexibility are slightly to moderately better than an average human. The human-form Wolf-kin is comparable to a well-trained athlete in this respect; however, speed and agility are not super-human, and they can be matched by other well-trained humans.

Strength: Physical capabilities tend to be slightly to moderately stronger than an average human. Wolf-Kin in human form are very athletic in build.

Predatory Affinity: Beasts of the forests that are predators often sense a Wolf-kin and yield to it, though some become aggressive and territorial. Natural wolves may express an affinity and tameness around human-form Wolf-kin that they don't for other humankind.

Regeneration: In human form, Wolf-kin have the ability to heal their wounds at twice the speed of an average human (excludes wounds made by silver or those that cannot regenerate, such as beheading).

Human Form Specific Weaknesses

Refer back to Universal wolf-kin Weaknesses.

Hybrid Form

The hybrid form is a semi-shift between humanoid and war forms. The character takes on a fully wolf-like appearance but maintains a more upright posture and a smaller, human-like build. Legs are generally digigrade, body fully covered in fur, with eyes, ears, tail and teeth like a wolf. An immense amount of concentration is devoted to controlling and maintaining the half shift. This form, however, is NOT neko-like. Humans with ears, tail, and pawed feet are NOT permitted.

Hybrid Form Specific Strengths

Senses: Sight, hearing and smell are 1.5x as acute as that of a normal human. Moderate Night Vision.

Speed & Agility: Reflexes, running speed, stamina, and flexibility are much better than an average human. The hybrid-form Wolf-kin is superior to average humans.

Strength: Physical capabilities tend to be much stronger than an average human. Wolf-kin in hybrid form are muscular and approximately 1.5x as strong as an average human.

Predatory Affinity: Beasts of the forests that are predators often sense a Wolf-kin and yield to it, though some become aggressive and territorial. Natural wolves may express an affinity and tameness around hybrid-form Wolf-kin.

Regeneration: In hybrid form, Wolf-kin have the ability to heal their wounds at 3x the speed of an average human (excludes wounds made by silver or those that cannot regenerate, such as beheading).

Hybrid Form Specific Weaknesses

Magic Casting: In Hybrid form, Magic casting ability is reduced to 50% capacity and accuracy.  Maintaining the hybrid shift requires considerable effort, leaving little mental strength is left for much else. Casting will physically exhaust the hybrid form Wolf-kin.

Painful Shifting: The process of assuming this form is painful and draining, though not as much so as shifting into War Form; it requires at least two full posts in order to complete, during which time no other actions can be taken.

Approved Hybrid Form Avatars

The lycan half-shift is humanoid in stature, fully furred, with digigrade legs, tail, ears and wolf-like facial features such as rounded eyes, widened nose and enlarged eye teeth (canines). The half-shift retains the thought and rational capabilities of the human, but takes on a more bestial appearance of a wolf.

The half-shift is considered to be the halfway point between human form and war form. The effect of shifting applies to the entire body, not just the desirable/cute parts like ears and tail. The end result is a feral looking man-beast. Below are photo examples to help you along, as well as helpful shopping links. At this time there are no available half-shift avatars that can be purchased as a complete package -- you have to put together your own look from a variety of vendors.

wolf nekoWhat is NOT Accepted for Hybrid Form

The Wolf "Neko": A fully human avatar with tacked on ears and tail. Adorable, to be sure,  however the wolf "neko" look is not an appropriate avatar for lycan and garou half-shifts. We define a half-shift as 50% midway between human and war-form. Shifts do not apply only to "parts", they apply to the full body.

War Form

werewolf 009The war form is the exalted expression of strength and ferocity for both Lycan and Garou. The war form is a hulking, terrifying beast-- humanoid in posture, but entirely bestial. With a fully wolf-like face, claws and fur, this form stands several feet taller and weighs much more than its human counterpart.  Maintaining this form requires a lot of energy, leaving the creature physically exhausted after shifting back.

War Form Specific Strengths

Senses: Sight, hearing and smell are twice as acute as that of a normal human. Acute Night Vision

Speed & Agility: Speed is 2x as fast as the fastest human runner in SHORT bursts; however agility is .5x (half) that of a normal human due to the hulking mass of the beast.

Strength: Physical ability is 2x the strength of a normal human, being immensely powerful. Laden with bulky fast-twitch muscle, the Wolf-kin is gifted with short bursts of power.

Predatory Affinity: Beasts of the jungle that are predators often sense a wolf-kin and yield to it, though some become aggressive and territorial. Natural wolves may express an affinity and tameness around war form Wolf-kin.

Regeneration:  In War form, Lycans have the ability to heal their wounds at 10x the speed of an average human (excludes wounds made by silver or those that cannot regenerate, such as beheading).

War Form Specific Weaknesses

Primal Mind: While in War Form, your thoughts are governed by the primal instincts of a wolf. You lose your capacity for human thought and reasoning, and you do not feel emotions as a human would. You recognize friend from foe, and instinctively know your pack-mates. You are also incapable of any human speech or communication, nor do you understand it. You communicate through the use of body language, grunts, growls, howls, and reading the scents of others.

Painful Shifting: The process of shifting into or out of War Form is extremely painful and draining. It takes at least two full posts in order to complete, during which time the Wolf-kin is extrmely vulnerable and is unable to take any other action. After the shift is complete, the Wolf-kin will be extremely hungry.

Poor Swimming: Due to the sheer size, weight, and ungainly claws and limbs, the war form Wolf-kin cannot swim well and can easily drown in deep water.

Tactical Gear Limit: In war form, Wolf-Kin may not wear tactical gear such as gauntlets, shields, and armor.  Light accessorizing is permitted (cape, loin cloth, necklace, etc.).

Weapons Limit: In war form, Wolf-Kin may NOT carry any weapons -- they are one big walking weapon.

Magic Casting Limit: In War form, Wolf-Kin may NOT use or cast magic -- no exceptions.

tyrlycanApproved War Form Avatars

The war-form lycan is a ferocious hulking beast. It is generally much larger and more muscular than the human form. The war form will often take on some of the coloration of the human, for instance a black haired woman might shift into a black-furred lycan.

Unnatural fur colors at this time are not accepted. Any color that occurs in nature is allowable, such as white, grey, black, brown, tawny, and reddish. Tribal painted-on and markings ARE permissible, however non-wolf markings such as leopard spots and tiger stripes are not.

What is NOT Accepted for War Form

The Furry: Cartoonish, low detail, usually adopting a "cutesy" affectation, oversized eyes, unnatural fur colors, and unrealistic in appearance, overall.  Usually played by users who refuse to have a human form, and wish to stay anthro 24/7.  Adorable, to be sure,  however the furry is not an appropriate avatar for lycan and garou half-shifts or war forms which are fearsome, bestial, and feral.

The Friendly Anthro: The "friendly wolf-boy next door". Slightly more realistic in fur/eye color than a furry, the "Friendly Anthro" is usually found wearing human clothing, walking, talking, and acting human but with a hybrid wolf avatar with a benevolent expression/appearance. Usually played by users who refuse to have a human form, and wish to stay anthro 24/7.  Adorable, to be sure,  however the friendly anthro is not an appropriate avatar for lycan and garou half-shifts or war forms which are fearsome, bestial, and feral.

Lupine Form

wolf png by scyllawolf d5rfgd3The Lupine form is a simple quadruped wolf.  The lupine form is the average size and build of a wolf, and takes on a variety of coat colors and patterns; furs are typically similar to natural timber wolves, grey wolves, or white wolves.

Lupine Form Specific Strengths

Senses: Sight, hearing and smell are 10x as acute as that of a normal human, i.e. the equivalent of a natural wolf.  Acute night vision.

Speed & Agility: Extremely quick and agile, the form is capable of both great bursts of speed and long continuous marathons at a medium trot without needing to stop. The lupine form is as agile and as fast as a natural wolf.

Strength: Strong but not nearly as strong as an average human, the form is equal to a natural wolf in strength, however; it possess a bone-crushing 1500lbs of pressure in its bite, thanks to the fully developed maxillofacial muscles not present in the other Lycan forms.

Predatory Affinity: Beasts of the forests that are predators often sense a Wolf-kin and yield to it, though some become aggressive and territorial. Natural wolves may express an affinity and even bond to (and pack with) a lupine form Wolf-kin.

Regeneration: In Lupine form,Wolf-kin have the ability to heal their wounds at 10x the the speed of an average human (excludes wounds made by silver or those that cannot regenerate, such as beheading).

Lupine Form Specific Weaknesses

Primal Mind: While in lupine form, thoughts are governed by the primal instincts of a wolf. Wolf-kin lose capacity for human thought and reasoning, and do not feel emotions as a human would. They do recognize friend from foe, and instinctively know their pack-mates. Additionally, they are are also incapable of any human speech or communication, nor do they understand it. Lupine-form Wolf-kin communicate through the use of body language, grunts, growls, howls, and reading the scents of others.

Weapons Limit: In lupine form, Wolf-Kin may NOT carry any weapons.

Magic Casting Limit: In lupine form, Wolf-Kin may NOT use or cast magic-- no exceptions.
